19 of Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player won his maiden title for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a difficult period, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in especial - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-term trainer Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.

This represents his maiden title since the Rome competition and first on a hard court from spring of 2023.

Success also means Medvedev has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one various competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is really nice," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, featuring in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had prompted some to wonder if his capacity to play at the elite level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, attempting to advance forward and perform assertively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

He came back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Moutet, securing 4 of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his initial professional title, gained dominance to create a decider.

Moutet defended 4 initial break points in a tight deciding set before the champion secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured victory with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
